Join local mixologist Beth Dixon, owner of Salt and Acid Beverage Consulting, as she demonstrates how to masterfully combine garden fresh herbs and spirits into three delicious craft cocktails. She’ll highlight seasonal flavors in a Lavender Paloma, a Charleston Fizz with elderflower and tarragon, and a Basil Martini. During the demo, sip samples of each cocktail as you enjoy expertly paired small plates. Fee includes demonstration, cocktail samples and food pairings.

Note: If you have food allergies or dietary restrictions, please register more than one week before the program date.  Menus are set 1 week in advance and additional restrictions cannot be accommodated after that time.  

Our Garden continues to follow CDC recommendations and state guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19. Beth perfected her tropical cocktail skills as the Bar Manager at Perch, Mike Ledesma’s now shuttered Pacific Rim inspired restaurant. Learn how to create your own Hawaiian-inspired drinks with Beth as she demonstrates how to make her craft fruit, herb and spice-infused versions of a Jungle Bird, Mai Tai and Painkiller. A collaboration between Barboursville Vineyards, Village Garden RVA and local restaurants— join us for a Tomato Tour Through Spain with dinner prepared by The Kitchen Classroom.

Featuring cocktails by Beth Dixon of Salt and Acid, sausage by The Mayor Meats, chicken and eggs from Aspen Grove Farm, wine from Barboursville Vineyards, heirloom tomatoes from Village Garden RVA, and local produce from around the region.

The Kitchen Classroom is beyond excited to partner with Village Garden RVA and Barboursville Vineyards on this amazing dinner series celebrating our local Virginia tomatoes. Spanish cuisine was the first in Europe to incorporate tomatoes, and this dinner will include a combination of classic Spanish dishes and modern interpretations (with a touch of southern charm) to showcase the phenomenal variety of tomatoes grown by Village Garden RVA.

Our fun and informative six course dinner will feature a classic paella, modern takes on tapas, generous wine and cocktail pairings, a Basque cheesecake, and other treats along the way. All will be served family style to bring family and friends together over Spanish flavors, heirloom tomatoes, and Virginia wine. And for those who prefer, a vegetarian version of the menu is offered. Known for her shrubs and high acid cocktails, Beth is the sole proprietor of Salt and Acid. Through her business, she focuses on cocktail menu consulting, bar staff training and private events. She currently serves as President for the Richmond, VA chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild.
